Monolith
Monolith Architecture Studio designs buildings that redefine city skylines. Their previous website was a grid of JPEGs. We built them an immersive digital space where every project unfolds like a first-person experience — inviting clients to inhabit the architecture before a single stone is laid. The result is the most-awarded architecture site of 2024.
A portfolio of award-winning buildings deserves more than a static image grid. Monolith's previous web presence failed utterly to convey the scale, materiality, and spatial drama of their work.
How we built it
Spatial Strategy
Translated architectural principles into digital interaction paradigms. Defined 'walk-through' as the primary navigation metaphor for the entire site.
3D Environment Build
Built custom WebGL scenes for each project. Optimized to sustained 60fps using instanced geometry and progressive level-of-detail loading.
Scroll Choreography
Designed a 12-beat scroll sequence for each project page — camera moves, material reveals, and typographic choreography.
Editorial Layer
Wrote and designed a project narrative system: process photography, material specifications, timeline, and client impact stories.
